The Tri-City Storm and Omaha Lancers each secured wins in a two-game United States Hockey League (USHL) slate, with Tri-City pulling away on the road behind a strong second period and Omaha capitalizing early and holding off a late push from Lincoln on home ice.
Tri-City Storm 4, Sioux City Musketeers 2
After a scoreless opening period, the Tri-City Storm broke through in the second with a dominant stretch to take control. Gairin Michalski opened the scoring with a snipe before Carson Pilgrim followed shortly after, crashing the net to double the lead. Ashton Schultz responded for the Musketeers to cut the deficit, but the Storm quickly answered as Noah LaPointe fired a one-timer from the blue line to restore a two-goal cushion.
Trey Jefferis brought Sioux City within one early in the third period, making it a 3-2 game, but the comeback fell short. With under a minute remaining, Mason Jenson sealed the win with an empty-net goal, securing a 4-2 road victory for Tri-City.
Lincoln Stars 2, Omaha Lancers 3
The Lincoln Stars struck first as Brady Kudrna opened the scoring, but Omaha responded with a strong first period on home ice. Jack Stanius evened the game before Lefty Markonidis added another to give Omaha a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission.
Drew Nelson tied the game early in the third period for Lincoln, but Omaha regained control late as Artyom Prima found the back of the net to make it 3-2. The Lancers held on down the stretch to secure the win in front of their home crowd.
