In the News What to Watch For
  • Lincoln became the first team to clinch a playoff spot with a five-point lead in the overall standings and 15 games left in the regular season. The Stars are 9-1-0-0 in their last 10 games. They’ll travel to Fargo for a pair of games this week.
  • Madison is 11-0-1-0 in its last 12 games. The Capitols host the NTDP U18s on Friday before traveling to play Waterloo on Saturday.
  • Youngstown is 9-1-0-0 in its last 10 games. Its only loss in that stretch was a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Black Hawks. The Phantoms swept Muskegon last weekend to tie for third in the Eastern Conference standings with a game in hand. Youngstown will host its school day game at 10:05 p.m. ET vs. Green Bay on Thursday, Feb. 27.
  • Notre Dame commit Dashel Oliver (Lincoln Stars) saw his 13-game point streak come to an end last weekend. He finished with 10 goals and 14 assists during the stretch, tying Adam Benák (Youngstown Phantoms) and Ohio State commit Landen Gunderson (Sioux City Musketeers) for the longest point streak of the season.
  • Maine commit Lukas Peterson (Green Bay Gamblers) leads USHL defensemen in points with 38 on seven goals and 31 assists. Vermont commit Caeden Herrington (Lincoln Stars) paces league blue liners with 13 goals.
  • Ohio State commit Landen Gunderson (Sioux City Musketeers) leads the league with 60 points on 23 goals and 37 assists. He has eight goals and six assists in his last eight games.  
  • Colorado Avalanche prospect and North Dakota commit Will Zellers (Green Bay Gamblers) leads the USHL in 34 goals and points-per game (1.46).
  • St. Cloud State commit Yan Shostak (Lincoln Stars) leads USHL goalies with 2.27 goals against average. Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev (Muskegon Lumberjacks) paces netminders with a .915 save percentage. AJ Reyelts (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) is the only goalie with four shutouts this season.  
  • Listed in order, Ryker Lee (Madison Capitols), Adam Benák (Youngstown Phantoms) and Tynan Lawrence (Muskegon Lumberjacks) are the only rookie scorers with 40 or more points.
  • Green Bay and Lincoln have the league’s best power play units at 30%. Sioux Falls (86%) and Fargo (85%) have the USHL’s best penalty kill units.
  • Alex Stezka (Chicago Steel/Sioux Falls Stampede) made his NHL debut for the Seattle Kraken last weekend, becoming the 17th USHL alum to make their NHL debut this season.
  • Cedar Rapids RoughRiders head coach Mark Carlson has 770 career regular-season USHL wins. The record for all-time USHL regular season wins is held by O’Handley at 778. The RoughRiders have 16 games remaining. Carlson has coached more regular-season games than any coach in USHL history, breaking the record held by O’Handley earlier this season.
