Snuggerud scores three times and assists on another in 11-3 win Thursday

  Gothenburg, Sweden ---- Led by the three-goal and one-assist performance from Jimmy Snuggerud (USA Hockey NTDP 2020-22) overpowered Switzerland 11-3 at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden Thursday.

Team USA, which includes 22 players who have played in the USHL, outshot the Swiss by a 40-24 margin in the game.

All three of Snuggerud’s goals came in the opening 20 minutes of action as Team USA built a 5-1 lead. Will Smith (USA Hockey NTDP 2021-23) and Zeev Buium (USA Hockey NTDP 2021-23) also connected for goals in the first period.

Gavin Brindley (Tri-City 2020-22) scored twice in the middle stanza while Ryan Leonard (USA Hockey NTDP 2021-23) and Isaac Howard (USA Hockey NTDP 2020-22) also scored as the lead grew to 9-1 after two periods of play.

Quinn Finley (Chicago/Madison 2020-23) and Eric Pohlkamp (Cedar Rapids 2021-23) scored in the third period to round out Team USA scoring in the game.

Jacob Fowler (Youngstown 2021-23) stopped 21 shots as Team USA upped its record at the tournament to 2-0-0-0.

Next action for Team USA comes Friday with an 11:00 a.m., EST face-off vs. Czechia.
