  Truro, N.S. ---- A four-goal effort from Trevor Connelly (Tri-City Storm) helped Team USA earn a bronze medal in an 8-5 win over Sweden at the 2023 World Junior A Challenge.

The Americans, who were led by head coach Matt Smaby (Waterloo Black Hawks) and featured 22 players from the USHL, held a 5-3 lead after the first period of action on goals from Zam Plante (Fargo Force), James Reeder (Dubuque Fighting Saints) and three from Connelly.

Chris Pelosi (Sioux Falls Stampede) and Connelly both scored power play goals in the second period as after 40 minute of play Team USA held a 7-4 lead.

Joe Connor (Muskegon Lumberjacks) closed out the scoring in the game for Team USA with his third-period marker.

Team USA outshot Sweden 32-26 in the game as Hampton Slukynsky (Fargo Force) finished with 21 saves in the game to record the win.
