Joey Argentina, Trevor Shorter, and Jon Kavcic of the Des Moines Buccaneers have been named United States Hockey League (USHL) Players of the Week for games played on or between Wednesday, September 16 and Sunday, September 20 at the USHL Fall Classic in Chicago, Ill.

Joey Argentina, F, Des Moines Buccaneers
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Led all skaters in scoring with two goals and four assists, and a +6 rating.
  • Scored a shorthanded goal and tallied an assist in Des Moines’ season opener, a 4-1 win against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Wednesday.
  • Tallied three assists and a shorthanded goal during the second period of the Buccaneers’ 7-3 win against the Youngstown Phantoms on Thursday.
Trevor Shorter, D, Chicago Steel
Hometown: Elmurst, Ill.
NCAA Commitment: University of Notre Dame
  • Notched the primary assist in the third period of Chicago’s 4-3 win against Lincoln on Friday. The goal tied the game, 2-2. The Steel won its home opener, 4-3.
  • Assisted on Chicago’s first and fifth goals of its 6-3 victory against the Omaha Lancers on Saturday.
Jon Kavcic, G, Des Moines Buccaneers
Hometown: Ljubliana, Slovenia
  • Turned aside 32 of 33 shots for a .970 save percentage in his USHL debut on Wednesday, a 4-1 victory against Muskegon.
