Owen Tylec jammed in the rebound from Rhys Wahlin’s wraparound attempt with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, and that was enough to give the Des Moines Buccaneers a 4-3 win against the Sioux Falls Stampede, causing a ripple effect that delivered the Youngstown Phantoms a share of the Anderson Cup title.
The Stampede can tie for the league’s regular-season trophy if they earn all four available points this weekend and Youngstown is held without a point. Both teams have two games left in the regular season.
Sioux Falls capitalized on the man advantage, but couldn’t otherwise overcome Des Moines in an evenly-contested game. The Buccaneers led for the back half of the second period and twice led the Stampede in the third with the help of two Tylec goals.
Detroit Red Wings prospect
Brent Solomon delivered Sioux Falls’ second power play goal of the night on a one-timer with less than seven minutes left in regulation to tie the game 3-3, but Tylec’s second goal of the night stood as the game winner in the only game around the United States Hockey League (USHL) on Tuesday.

About the USHL
The United States Hockey League (USHL) and its 16 teams are committed to being the world's leading junior hockey league. This season, more than 50% of NCAA Division I men's hockey players and nearly 25% of NHL players have USHL experience. The USHL has developed more than 285 direct NHL Draft picks since 2020, and eight of the last 10 Hobey Baker Award winners, including Macklin Celebrini (Chicago Steel).
Elevated through the recently announced Declaration of Excellence with the NHL and USA Hockey, the league's player-first approach, including a 2:1 practice-to-game ratio and a schedule with 90% of games played on weekends, provides its players with the optimal environment for athletic and personal growth, creating pathways for the next generation of stars like Auston Matthews (NTDP), Kyle Connor (Youngstown Phantoms), Jeremy Swayman (Sioux Falls Stampede), and Johnny Gaudreau (Dubuque Fighting Saints).
