Muskegon 6, Youngstown 5 shootout

Muskegon rallied from a 4-1 second-period deficit to claim a 6-5 shootout win at Youngstown Friday.
First-period goals from
Nathan Lewis and
Zach Morin and another from
Grant Young (scored at 6:07 of the second) staked the host Phantoms to a 3-0 lead.
Ethan’s Whitcomb tallied a power play marker at 10:20 to get Muskegon on the scoresheet, but
Ryan Botterill’s 21
st of the year at 12:59 made it a 4-1 game by the end of the second period.
Cameron Aucoin’s first career USHL goal pulled the Lumberjacks within two, but Lewis scored again a minute later as the Phantoms regained their three-goal cushion.
Matvei Gridin, who had three points in the game (1-2—3), scored at 6:45 as Muskegon began to rally.
Ty Henricks made it 5-4 at 13:26 and
Justin Solovey tied it at 19:30.
After a scoreless overtime, Muskegon got shootout goals from
Sacha Boisvert and Whitcomb to claim the win.
Fargo 3, Lincoln 1

Blake Montgomery’s first-period marker, but the host Force rallied with a goal in the second and two more in the third enroute to the 3-1 win.

Brasen Boser tallied an empty-net goal at 19:44 to close out scoring in the game.

Sioux Falls 6, Madison 4

Chase Lapinta had a four-point night on two goals and two assists as Sioux Falls picked up a 6-4 road win at Madison.
Defenseman
John Stout got his first USHL goal to give the Capitols a 1-0 first-period lead.
Lapinta, playing in his third game with the Stampede after coming over in a trade with Dubuque, evened the score at 5:17 of the second, but goals from
Colton Jamieson and
Jack Brandt made it a 3-1 Madison lead by the end of the second.
The Caps went up by three when
Austin Burnevik scored his 34
th of the season early in the third period. Sioux Falls then proceeded to score five consecutive times to claim victory.
Lapinta tallied his second of the game at 4:26. The Stampede continued to roll with a goal from
Tyler Borgula at 13:40 and the game-tying goal from
Chris Pelosi at 14:44.
Hunter Anderson’s goal at 17:42 put Sioux Falls up for the first time in the game and
J.J. Wiebusch added an insurance marker when he scored into an empty net at 19:09.
Tri-City 4, Sioux City 1

August Falloon scored twice to help lift Tri-City to a 4-1 home win over Sioux City Friday night.
Ethan Gardula’s 13
th goal of the season gave the visiting Musketeers a 1-0 first-period lead.
Falloon, a University of Minnesota commit, scored once in the second period and again early in the third as the Storm took control of the game.
Carmelo Crandell tallied his sixth goal of the season 27 seconds after Falloon scored near the beginning of the third period.
Trevor Connelly’s 23
rd goal of the season, which came at 18:39 into an empty net, closed out the scoring in the game.
Cam Korpi turned aside 24 shots to pick up his 22
nd win on the season. Samual Urban had 37 saves for Sioux City.
Waterloo 3, Des Moines 2 overtime

Including the game-winner in overtime,
Gavyn Thoreson had a hand in all three goals as Waterloo claimed a 3-2 win over Des Moines.
Ilya Protas gave the visiting Bucs a 1-0 first-period lead.
Gavin Lindberg’s power play goal evened the score at 1-1 when Waterloo scored on the power play at 1:03 of the second.
Theo Kiss scored at 8:34 as Des Moines regained the lead, but
Grady Deering’s goal at 16:11 sent the two teams into locker room locked at 2-2 after 40 minutes of action.
After a scoreless third period where Waterloo outshot Des Moines 10-6, Thoreson, who had assisted on Lindberg’s and Deering’s goals earlier in the game, scored when his pass to the front of the net went off a defenseman’s skate into the net at 2:17 of the extra session.
Calvin Vachon had 21 saves for the Black Hawks to pick up the win.
Ethan Dahlmeir had 35 saves for the Bucs.
Cedar Rapids 5, Dubuque 3

Cedar Rapids to a 2-0 first-period lead and never trailed in earning a 5-3 win over Eastern Conference-leading Dubuque Friday.
Kason Muscutt, who had two goals in the win, tallied midway through the first period to open the scoring in the game.
Zack Sharp’s sixth goal of the year gave the RoughRiders a two-goal cushion at 12:54.
Noah Powell’s 27
th of the season got Dubuque on the board at 5:55 of the second.
Ben Muthersbaugh scored three minutes later as Cedar Rapids regained its two-goal lead.
Gavin Cornforth converted on a power play chance with five minutes left in the period and at the end of two periods of play, the RoughRiders held a 3-2 advantage.
James Reeder evened the score at 1:10 of the third, but Cedar Rapids closed out the win on goals from
Isaac Johnson at 3:52 and an empty netter from Muscutt at 19:23.
Rudy Guimond finished with 25 stops for Cedar Rapids, while
Kevin Reidler and
Dylan Johnson combined for 24 saves for Dubuque.
Green Bay 8, Omaha 2

Green Bay jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead and never trailed in an 8-2 2in at Omaha.
Luke Baker and
Lev Katzin scored in the opening 20 minutes of the first period and when
Charlie Russell and
Ryan Humphrey netted markers before the second period was three minutes old, Green Bay held a 4-0 lead.
Ryan Kusler cut the deficit to three when he scored at 7:41, but Russell scored his second of the game at 7:41 to make it 5-1 and after
Ben Poitras scored twice in a three-minute span, the Gamblers led 7-1 by the end of the second.
The two teams traded third-period goals with
Aleksi Kivioja scoring for Omaha at 16:47 and
Lukas Person for Green Bay.
Adam Gajan turned aside 25 shots to pick up his 20
th win of the season.
