The United States Hockey League takes a team-by-team look ahead of the 2023 NHL Draft.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks, who have had at least one player selected in each of the previous 11 NHL Drafts with 33 total in that span, have had 40 players selected in the NHL Draft.
Forward
Andrei Svechnikov, who played for Muskegon in 2026-17 and was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes with the second overall pick of the 2018 NHL Draft, is the highest-ranking Lumberjack draft pick.

Gavin McCarthy, Defense

A native of Clarence City, N.Y., McCarthy registered 27 points on eight goals and 19 assists in 42 games played for the Lumberjacks in 2022-23. Named USHL Defenseman of the Week Nov. 21 after posting four points on two goals and two assists in two games. Was +1 with four shots on goal in the two games. Notched both primary assists on Muskegon’s pair of power play goals in a 3-2 shootout win vs. Dubuque, then recorded his first career multi-goal game with two tallies in the Lumberjacks’ 5-4 loss to the Fighting Saints. Has totaled 10-30-- 40 and is +3 with four power play goals in 95 games in two seasons with Muskegon.
Ty Henricks, Forward

Henricks, who split the 2022-23 season with Fargo and Muskegon, had 3-7--10 in 19 games after coming to the Lumberjacks at the beginning of February. Totaled 9-10--19 in 47 games in the USHL in 2022-23. The Mission Viejo, Cal., native had a goal and two assists in a 7-3 road win at Madison Feb. 10. A product of the Anaheim Ducks AAA program, he also spent three years of prep hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary’s.
The USHL has had 50-or-more players selected in each of the last five NHL Drafts, with a league-best 57 chosen in 2022 and 2018. In all the USHL has seen 990 of its players selected in total, with at least one player taken in each draft but one dating back to 1981.
