Chicago, Ill. --- NHL Central Scouting (NHLCS) announced Friday the service’s annual Mid-Term Ranks, which included 72 players who have played in the USHL to date.
Among the USHL ties, nine skaters are ranked in the top 30 in North America, including current USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) forwards
Ryan Leonard,
Oliver Moore,
Danny Nelson,
Gabriel Perreault and
William Smith. Also appearing in the top 30 are forward
Jayden Perron (Chicago Steel) and former league forwards
Adam Fantilli (Chicago Steel, 2020-22) and
Charlie Stramel (NTDP, 2020-22).
“The USHL is so proud of the tremendous talent the league is producing each and every year,” said USHL President and Commissioner
Bill Robertson. “The Mid-Term rankings is a wonderful yardstick and example of the continual development of our league with the number of players be considered for the upcoming 2023 NHL Draft.”
With 60 active players (53 skaters and seven goaltenders) on the list, the USHL has more players listed in the rankings than any other league in North America.
The 72 players with ties to the USHL are broken down with 37 forwards, 24 defensemen and 11 goaltenders.
The USHL is coming off the 2022 NHL Draft, which saw the League tie its own record with 57 selections. The USHL has now had 50-or-more NHL Draft picks in each of the last five Drafts and now has 990 NHL Draft picks all-time including four first overall picks:
Owen Power (Buffalo Sabres - 2021),
Jack Hughes (New Jersey Devils - 2019),
Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs - 2016) and
Rick DiPietro (New York Islanders - 2000).
