Prior to this season, the USHL developed a new "tender" process in which teams had the opportunity to acquire 1996 birth year players in advance of the 2012 USHL Futures Draft. The Youngstown Phantoms took full advantage of the new process when they secured a pair of talented young forwards - Kyle Connor and J.J. Piccinich.
The duo are among 12 players that USHL teams acquired with tenders. Connor was given a tender on April 20th, and two days later, Piccinich earned a tender. These elite young players have now begun their first USHL season and are getting adjusted to the rigors of League play. Their acclimation to the League has included time together on the ice as linemates through the first few games of the regular season.
Bart Logan caught up with both rookie forwards who shared their excitement of playing in the USHL and their goals for developing their game in the League.
