USHL Players of the Week

CCM Forward of the Week

Mason Bergh

Chicago Steel

The 19-year-old started off his second USHL season in a big way as he recorded six points (1g, 5a) and a plus-three rating in his team’s 8-2 opening victory against the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday.  The six points are the most in a USHL game in nearly two years (Taylor Cammarata, Waterloo Black Hawks, 10/28/12) and set a new Chicago Steel team record.  His five assists also set a new team record and are the most by USHL player in a game since the 2012-13 season.  Bergh is a native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and put up 25 points (11g, 14a) in 58 games for the Steel last season.  He is committed to play NCAA hockey at Colorado College.

CCM Defenseman of the Week

Alec Rauhauser

Des Moines Buccaneers

The defenseman played a big role for the Buccaneers in their season-opening victory as he tallied three points (2g, 1a) and posted a plus-three rating in the 4-0 win over the Fargo Force on Saturday.  He netted his team’s first goal of the season in the first period, and then added another goal in the second period.  In 35 previous USHL games, the 19-year-old had scored just one goal.  The Bismarck, North Dakota native was also part of penalty killing unit for the Buccaneers that successfully turned away all seven of their opponent’s power play chances.  It is the second USHL season for Rauhauser after putting up six points (1g, 5a) last year for the Bucs.

Reebok Goaltender of the Week

Ryland Pashovitz

Des Moines Buccaneers

Making his USHL debut, the goaltender stopped all 23 shots he faced to post a shutout in the 4-0 win for the Buccaneers against Fargo on Saturday.  The 19-year-old made 11 of his saves in the third period alone, which included helping to successfully killing off a five-minute major penalty for his club.  Overall for the night, Pashovitz was key for Des Moines as they turned away all seven power play opportunities for Fargo.  The 19-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is the first Buccaneers goaltender to post a shutout in his USHL debut since Michael Shibrowski did so at the beginning of the 2010-11 season.
