The United States Hockey League is America's only Tier I Junior league. The USHL averages over 20 players drafted into the NHL and over 160 players offered scholarships to play NCAA Division I hockey each year. This is happening because an increasing number of America's best players realize "the USHL is the place to play" in America for the greatest exposure to NHL and NCAA coaches and scouts.
Throughout the 2008-09 season, the 20-man staff of USHL Central Scouting is assigned the task of identifying who the elite players in America are and notifying USHL member teams as such, so that the teams can further scout these players on their own.
This USHL identification and scouting of America's elite players reaches its pinnacle each spring with the USHL Central Scouting Showcase.
The USHL Central Scouting Showcase is the USHL's only sanctioned showcase, and is the only showcase guaranteed to have all 12 USHL teams in attendance to scout and recruit the participants.
For the 1991, 1992 and 1993 birth years, the Showcase is strategically placed just before the USHL draft for maximum benefit for the player and USHL teams.
The 1994 Showcase is held after the USHL Draft, and is the beginning of the 2009-10 scouting season, where USHL teams will focus on the 1994 birth year.
The USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camps are by invitation only.
Each player's performance through the course of the 2008-09 season, when USHL Central Scouting is watching games and identifying talent, will serve as each player's tryout to qualify for the showcase. Once a player is identified he will be invited to the Showcase. Invitations will begin going out in December and continue throughout the 2008-09 season until the end of February. If you have not received an invitation and feel you are worthy of one, please contact the Director of Central Scouting, Bob Turow, so he can have one of our central scouting staff member see you perform in person.
The registration fee is $340 US.
Application to the USHL Central Scouting Showcase Camp is done on an individual basis and registration is done online at www.ushl.com. USHL Central Scouting will divide the registered players equally onto teams coached by USHL coaches and central scouts.
Our coaches and scouts want to see players in game conditions and, as such, each player will play six games over four days.
If for travel reasons you need to play on the same team with another invited player, we will make the proper accommodations.
